Seasonal Mission Projects
Christmas Mission: Denver Rescue Mission, Housewarming Boxes
This year, we are participating in the Denver Rescue Mission’s (DRM) Housewarming Boxes as our Christmas Mission.
Give hope this holiday season by providing essential housewarming supplies. The Housewarming Box program is designed to meet the needs of families who are part of the Mission's Family Rescue Ministry and Family Refugee Services. These families receive boxes filled with household supplies as they settle into a home of their own.
There are specific shopping lists to make it very easy to fill our boxes. Our goal is to provide the DRM with 10 boxes.
The donations will be packed in plastic storage totes. This creates a manageable way to fill and transport boxes, a practical means of storage for the families and a box size that is not too heavy for anyone to lift.
All donations must be dropped off at the church in the narthex by noon on 12/8/2022.

WPUMC and Stigma will partner once again this season for Christmas in the Park. This is an annual event organized by AfterHours and held on Christmas morning to serve as a free “store” for unhoused people and people experiencing financial struggles. We offer rolling suitcases and backpacks to our neighbors in need. They can be new or gently used, but in good working order. Last year we received a very large donation of messenger bags and backpacks. This year we would like to focus on rolling suitcases. Being able to keep items together as they move from place to place can have a significant positive impact on our recipients’ daily lives. If you have rolling suitcases that are unused, we would love to give them a use. Suitcases can be dropped off at the church by the sanctuary or on the front porch of the home of Matt and Sheri Salis. Their address is 285 S. Williams St, Denver. If you would like to give a monetary donation, please do so at theStigma.org/donation. You will receive a tax deductible receipt for your monetary donation. Feel free to contact us with any questions at sheri@thestigma.org or matt@thestigma.org.

Meal Service at St. Francis Center – Warren Residences
There are opportunities to help cook dinner every two weeks at the St. Francis Center – Warren Residences. The event is located at the old Warren UMC in Cheesman Park and you will have the chance to prepare a meal with the residents and help build community. You are asked to volunteer for the 3-6 p.m. shift on Wednesdays. They also ask for a $25 donation to help cover the cost of ingredients for the meal. Warren Residences offers permanent housing for fifty (50) people.
The mission of St. Francis Center is to offer refuge and peace for our community members who experience homelessness, helping them meet their basic needs and transition out of homelessness.
St. Francis Center is a not-for-profit organization with its roots in the Episcopal Church. St. Francis Center’s focus has always been to offer a place of refuge for people who are homeless and to provide services with dignity and respect. We continue that tradition today, welcoming all who come whatever their religious or political affiliation.
For questions and available dates, please contact Ben Fiedler: benafiedler@gmail.com or 303.399.6999 (please include your cell number when leaving messages).

Ongoing Mission Projects
Bags of Hope
Grab a few bags to keep in your car. As you drive around town and find someone in need, you can just hand them one of these bags. This mission relies on you donations. Please drop off any of the following items in the bin in the Narthex: small bottles of water (8 oz size), anti-bacterial wipes, socks, cracker packs (peanut butter/cheese), or soft granola bars. |
Habitat for Humanity
WPUMC is a member of a coalition of churches that builds a Habitat for Humanity home each year. We also fundraise each year to partially fund the cost of building a Habitat house. |

Morning has Broken Orphanage in South Africa
In August, WPUMC presented Reverend Daniel Marutle with a check for $3,280. This was due to the generous donations made by our congregation.
