Welcoming Our New Operations Manager We have hired Katie Daugherty as our new Operations Manager. She will begin training in the office with John this week! Watch for a fuller introduction and welcome for Katie in next Monday's email. ![]() Habitat for Humanity There is still an opportunity to volunteer with Habitat for Humanity before the end of 2020! As a part of the November focus on our Habitat for Humanity mission, join other WPUMC members at a Habitat site on Sat. Nov. 21st. Together we will work as a small group on the Swansea home site, which is close to I70 and York Street. To ensure safety measures are followed (e.g., masks, social distancing, hand-washing stations, etc.), Habitat is working with small groups of volunteers at selected sites. Fortunately, they were able to set aside six volunteer slots for our congregation. Volunteers at any skill level are welcome to join our group. *You must be at least 16 years old on new construction sites. No matter what you do on build day, you will make a difference for a very deserving and hard-working family. And what an amazing way to give back right before the Thanksgiving holiday! To register for the WPUMC volunteer day on Sat. Nov. 21st, click HERE. If you have questions about volunteering or about Habitat for Humanity, contact Carol Nelson at customtrainingllc@Q.com or call 303.810.4635. You'll also learn more about our partnership with Habitat for Humanity in upcoming newsletters and church services. Thank you for your interest in and support of this important mission for WPUMC! ![]() Thanksgiving Donation Drive This year, WPUMC will conduct a non-traditional personal care drive for Thanksgiving. For this, we have partnered with FISH of East Denver to identify the most needed donations for the families they serve. Below is a list of items that are being requested. There is a bin in the Narthex for drop-offs at the church, however we do ask that you kindly avoid coming by the church during the high traffic Preschool drop-off and pick-up times (9:15-9:45am and 2:15-2:45pm) Monday-Friday. There will also be two Saturdays where families can drive-thru at the church with your donations. Those dates are 10/24 and 11/7. Volunteers will be on site from 10am-12pm to accept your donations. List of Requested Items (both travel and full-sized options)
Stewards of WPUMC, As you've probably heard in service or read in our weekly emails, we have entered our stewardship season, where we as a community commit to taking care of our church for the coming year. While this is important every year, as a good plan allows us to allocate our resources wisely, this year it is of even greater importance. We have faced a difficult year as a community connectionally, emotionally, and financially. And we know the people of our congregation have struggled with these issues and many more. I recognize that for some of us, the idea of committing to a financial pledge this year could be daunting in the face of all that has happened this year, and all the uncertainty of the year to come. Know that in these difficult times, your church family and your church staff are here to support you in any way that we can. If you are inspired to support the mission of Wash Park UMC, but know that you are unable to offer a financial pledge at this time, I would encourage you to consider the following options: Offer Your Prayers: Pray for your church, its members, its children, and its leaders. Offer Your Presence: We need you! If you attend monthly, try attending twice a month. If you regularly attend, try volunteering for a leadership position or helping out on our committees. Your presence is a blessing to us in whatever form you can offer it. Offer Your Gifts: Yes, this is usually considered financial gifts, but it can also include gifts that only YOU can give. Do you love gardening? Help us care for our grounds! Are you tech-savvy? We'd love your input on making our virtual broadcasts better or our emails more engaging. If you have a talent or an area of expertise, we'd love to hear about it. Offer Your Service: Most of the work of the church is done with the help of our volunteers. Have you considered helping out with our children or youth ministries? Or maybe assisting with our missions is more your speed? If you have hands and a heart for your church, we need you! Offer Your Witness: Help us spread our message of love, justice, mission, and hope by sharing our posts on Facebook or signing up to read scripture on Sunday! Your voice is a powerful force for good in our community, and we encourage you to use it. There are so many ways to make a commitment to our community, and all ways are welcome and needed for our church to thrive. If you would like to make a different kind of pledge, of your prayers, presence, gifts, service, or witness, please contact Rev. Sandi or Rev. Jamielee. Know that however you choose to contribute to this community, you are a valued and cherished member of our church. Peace and Love, Rev. Jamielee For more information on our annual Stewardship Campaign, go to our website and click on "Learn About the Stewardship Campaign".
