Pastor's Message Happy Thursday WPUMC Friends and Family! Last week, Chris Mikesell met with AfterHours pastor, Tyler Kaufmann, to hand off the 232 masks that individuals from our congregation made for our homeless friends that are usually served lunches in Civic Center Park. TWO HUNDRED THIRTY-TWO! That's a lot of masks - and hundreds of people will be safer in receiving and wearing them. Thank you to all who helped! You can still participate-we'll continue to gather masks to donate to those in need, and to have available for people in our building once we start opening up a little bit more in the coming months. So, please keep your sewing machines out and running to help keep our faces masked. To further our mission of service in our community, please refer to our updated donation request below. We are switching to collecting socks and underwear for our friends without homes. Thank you for your donations! We hope you are well and sincerely wish to hear from you. Let us know how you're doing-please email Rev. Sandi (pastor@washparkumc.org) or Rev. Jamielee (assocpastor@washparkumc.org), or fill out our online prayer card so that we're aware of how to support you and care for you during this time. Peace and love, Rev. HANDS-ON SERVICE 2020 Vision
Update on Donations: our involvement with our homeless neighbors through our Socks and Sandwiches ministry has changed. In light of safety concerns for those we serve and those who are serving, AfterHours has stopped passing out sandwiches in the park. However, there is still a need within that community we would like to help meet! Our homeless friends are really in need of socks and underwear during this time, especially in large and extra-large sizes. You can purchase donations and drop them off in the identified donation bin currently located right inside the double glass doors of the main church entrance (accessible Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm). Additionally, you can order supplies through your favorite online retailer and have them delivered directly to the church. When ordering, please indicate in the delivery instructions that deliveries can only be received M-F, 9-5. **Make sure you report your acts of service (hours spent, dollars given, items donated) by using this simple form HERE. Our Goal - 2,020 Acts of Service in 2020! Comments are closed.
